Passion

Catharine loves using language to help others. She applied her formal Spanish (BA) and international policy (MA) training while living and volunteering among Spanish-speaking communities in southern California and Mexico, and began translating professionally in 2007. Today, she continues her community service as a:
  • Director, of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Nova Scotia
  • Volunteer Translator, Translators without Borders (French and Spanish to English projects)

Precision

Being bilingual doesn’t necessarily make you a good translator. Professional translation requires:

  • Proven language skills
    • Catharine became a Certified Translator after an extensive vetting and examination process by her provincial (ATINS) and national (CTTIC) associations.
  • Specialized industry knowledge
    • She holds an insurance certification through the Nova Scotia Finance and Treasury Board, and she completed the Canadian Investment Funds Course managed by the Investment Funds Institute of Canada
